Who we are

The GlobAgri platform is a collaborative initiative between the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) to advance agricultural knowledge and foster sustainable development worldwide. Our vision is to foster resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural systems that can effectively respond to the pressing challenges of food security, climate change, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic disparities. Through the GlobAgri platform, we combine our expertise, resources, and networks to undertake comprehensive research and development programs.

Key areas of the GlobAgri platform

  1. Agroecology and Sustainable Farming Systems:
Develop and promote agroecological approaches that minimize environmental impact, optimize resource use efficiency, and enhance agricultural productivity while preserving ecosystem services.
  2. Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation:
Investigate climate-smart agricultural practices, develop models for climate change impact assessment, and support farmers in adopting resilient and low-carbon farming strategies.
  3. Biodiversity Conservation and Genetic Resources:
Our research aims to safeguard agricultural biodiversity, preserve plant and animal genetic resources, and promote sustainable use and conservation of natural ecosystems.
  4. Sustainable Value Chains and Market Access:
We work towards creating sustainable and inclusive value chains, supporting small-scale farmers, and enhancing market access for agricultural products from developing countries.
  5. Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange:
Through training programs, workshops, and partnerships, we empower local communities and researchers to build their capacities and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
